Astor Free Community Garden's 2016 Opening

The Astor Free 2016 season opening is Friday, April 22, 2016.  The opening will include our partners the Julia A. Barnes School and the Pearson Company volunteers.

 

 

 

PLANTS & VEGETABLES

Astor Place Community Garden began June 30, 2012. The Garden is a calibration with Julia A. Barnes our adopted and beloved grammar school in our area. The Garden also partners as of February, 2013 with Lincoln High School and will continue to partner with others.

In the first year the Garden produced flowers, a variety of herbs, corn, cabbage, five types of tomatoes, cucumbers, beets, radishes, spring mix lettuce, squash, collard greens, pumpkins,string beans, peas,etc. 

This year with the continued help of the greater community of volunteers we can produce more and eat fresh fruits and vegetables.

 

Astor Place Neighborhood Association will host our Community Meeting & Professional Development Training Workshops  on Friday, October 24, 2014. The topics will be Historical Preservation Distinction (Questions- Information & Concerns and Resume Reviews) Thursday, November 20, 2014 Training Workshop Location: Julia A. Barnes School/ PS#12/ 91 Crescent Ave. Jersey City  Time 6:00 through 8:30pm. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.
